Mikepércs: Blackcap

Practically everything worth mentioning was happening within 5 minutes this morning:

After the hawfinch only a blackcap lands but it's not much interested for water:

Mikepércs: Chalkhill Blue

By the pleasant afternoon lights I'm having a try with the butterflies on the meadow nearby:

Mikepércs: Oriole Again

Second try at the drinking pool. It's a sunny morning. The first bird is a hawfinch however it lands in a wrong place. After that nothing for a long time, then suddenly I can hear an oriole's voice nearby. The bird is landing on a visible branch. I try to move slowly my lens but in the next moment it's sitting on the pool! I have counted on at least on this very species here. By a strong backlight I could make it this way:

Golden Oriole (female)

After a few sips it flies off.
Then a chiffchaff comes. I'm less successful with it. Later a spotted flycatcher lands for a bath:

I don't manage to take a decent photo of the blackcap that cames after that.
It's not a huge activity but it's promising that more and more species appear.

Mikepércs: Starlings II.

Last night I had a look at the starling hole and was relieved to see that the youngs are still inside, but a head is already looking out of it curiously. So, I have another try this morning. It's light already but the sun hasn't risen yet when the parents appear with the breakfast:

One of the youngs head is almost constantly out, it's familiarizing with the surroundings, ...:

... and waiting for food of course:

The youngs are "house-trained" already, they regularly drop out of the hole.
The parents get inside more rarely as a big open mouth prevents this:

I think a few more days and the youngs get out of the hole so, probably this is the last time I photograph this family.

Mikepércs: Starlings I.

A few days ago when I was walking in the forest I heard some soft chirp coming from somewhere deep. I looked round and discovered the source of the sound: a hole in a tree. So, that's my new project, I thought, I only have to find out what kind of bird's nestlings are there. Looking the place from farther I caught sight of the parents: they are starlings. On the next days I made a temporary hide and placed a landing branch in front of the hole. Today at dawn I'm waiting excitedly the upcoming events.
It has just lightened when the parents are coming, the female and the male take turns at feeding the nestlings:

The parents often have to do some cleaning inside the hole as the youngs are not "house-trained" yet:

There are many millers around so the parents carry a lot of them:

Mikepércs: Evening macro

Today I discovered this flower at the edge of the forest nearby:

Mikepércs: Golden Oriole

At this time last year I was busy photographing at the pond. At the end of winter I still hoped for some water in the pond bed but when I paid a visit there in march I had to face the fact that only a small portion of the pond bed contains some water. Practically no birds. So, I looked in other direction and placed a small drinking pool in the forest. The birds started to use it, so I gave it a try today.
However the first bird appearing in front of my lens was not at the pool but on a locust bush nearby.
I haven't photographed a golden oriole so close yet:

The first bird at the pool is a great tit. Then a hawfinch, ...:

... a chaffinch and a chiffchaff comes:

And essentially that was all for this morning.
