Balmazújváros: Long Eared Owls

There's a rumour going about that in Balmazújváros lots of long eared owls spend the winter days in downtown. Usually they sit on evergreens and big trees at daytime. I decided to see after this news accompanied by my son. We needn't to do too much search to notice the first owl on a big tree in front of a school, but it was unsuitable for photography. In a side street however we saw at least 10 birds having a rest on a few thuja and pine trees. They were sitting mainly among the branches, but there were 1-2 well visible individuals as well:
