Mikepércs: Long-tailed Tit

I discovered long-tailed tits recently flying around the hide, especially in a bush, where they were searching something. Last time I saw them with feathers in their tiny beaks, there were pheasant feathers. They were obviously gathering material for their nest. Let's try to lure them to the hide with feathers! I gathered some feathers this morning and placed them in front of the hide, before I got in. Of course, they kept on searching in that bush and didn't come close. The tits and the jays on the other hand were attracted by the water:

Suddenly I discovered a long-tailed tit on top of a small blackthorn bush:

It seemed if it had a look at the feathers which didn't prove to be appropriate, because after a few seconds it flew away. It didn't landed on the best place, but I was very happy with it as it's a long time since I last photographed a long-tailed tit. One of them perhaps will come close next time too...

Mikepércs: The Gaping Blue Tit

Today the birds were a bit more active at the feeder than yesterday, especially the tits came of course. I discovered recently that there was a blue tit wich was gaping it's beak continuously. Otherwise its behaviour is like the others', it eats normally, perhaps it drinks more often:

Mikepércs: Flight Shots

Having a sunny day, I decided to try and catch the tits in the air, just before landing. In these cases I always come to the conclusion that I should have shot with a shorter time in most of the cases:

The birds however don't attend the feeder so intensely as they did before. Spring is coming.

Mikepércs: Siskin

According to the weather forecast it was to be sunny today, however I had to start to photography in thick fog. I was hoping it would clear up later so that I could take some action shots as well. But it was foggy for hours.

The first shots have been taken of a siskin which landed on the side of the pool to have some water:

The water was covered by a thin layer of ice but this bird was able to find some drops of water:

Soon the sparrow hawk appeared, ...:

... it looked round, then left soon.

After the fog has disappeared, a few greenfinches landed too:

Mikepércs: Goldfinch And Greenfinches

As soon as I got into the hide this morning, a goldfinch appeared on the branch in front of the hide. I aimed at it at once, but it flew off after 2 shots:

But the greenfinches appeared soon as well:

A decent flock have gathered and jarrings took place quite often:

Suddenly the sparrow hawk landed on the side of the pool about 2 meters from me, but beeing so close, it started on the first shot of a continuous shooting. At the second shot it was still in the frame:

I've been very happy for the appearance of the flock of greenfinches and I hope I'll be able to take more action shots of them in the future.

The snow didn't last long, it's melting, but the hoary plants are nice on pictures with birds on them:
