Sitting in the hide I met the usual birds today:

It's not winter cold yet, so the birds can use the bathing pool for bathing and drinking:

Today a few siskins landed on the side of the pool to have some water, but I didn't manage to take a decent shot of them.

I was waiting for the sparrow hawk again but it didn't appear.

Mikepércs: Sleepy Start Of The Year

Happy New Year for all my readers!

I started the new year with photography. After new year's eve I didn't manage to be in my hide in time, as when I arrived there, the sparrow hawk was already sitting on the branch that I had placed for it before. So, I missed it. After a few seconds it had observed me and it was gone. 

Today the woodpecker has landed for the first time on the pool to drink:

The jays appeared a well:

One of the marsh tits had found something on the water because it was fluttering a few moments before it had picked it up:

But it had found food somewhere else as well, it doesn't live only on sunflower seeds:

The last day of the year started with a thick fog, but I managed to take a few decent shots:

Again a frosty morning and again I'm waiting for the sparrow hawk, and not in vain. First the tree sparrows appeared, ...:

... then one of the woodpeckers came to have breakfast:

The sparrow hawk emerged suddenly as usual, this time on the side of the pool. And this time I was able to make the portrait:

Then he landed right on the branch that I had placed for him:

Mikepércs: The Sparrow Hawk Appears Again

Everything was covered by hoar frost this morning but sunshine could be expected later. So I hoped for some action shots as well. The tree sparrows appeared first at the frozen bathing pool:

Suddenly a big panic took place, and in that moment the sparrow hawk appeared in front of me. He chose another landing place this time:

Suddenly he aimed at something and flew away. So the small birds returned:
